"Lane" tops the charts which it comes to valuable addresses
Woolwich affluent address index discovers houses sell for much different prices from Park Lane to Coronation Street.
If you live on a Lane your house is probably worth 50% more than a house on a Drive, according to mortgage experts The Woolwich.
Research from The Woolwich shows that the first line of an address can say something about the lifestyle of the owner.
The results show a clear victory for Lane (as in Park). And although Rodeo Drive may be the hot strip stateside, UK Drives and Streets trailed in last with a lower value.
The Woolwich Affluent Address Index
Location Average price (£)
1. Lane 123 000
2. Way 113 000
3. Road 110 000
4. Avenue 102 000
5. Close 97 000
6. Street 92 000
7. Drive 86 000
About The Woolwich Open Plan mortgage range
The Woolwich pioneered flexible mortgages on the high street. It now has a range of products all with daily interest, the facility to borrow additional funds at mortgage rate, overpayments and underpayments and the flexibility to manage the mortgage via branch, telephone, Internet, WAP and digital TV. Open Plan Offset enables customers to save interest and reduce the term of the loan by offsetting money in current and savings accounts against the mortgage. All the accounts are kept separate, but work together with funds being offset every day.
Research Details
The Woolwich studied the first line address details of more than 1000 properties across the UK and referenced them with the propertys value. From this they were able to assign an average value to the most popular addresses - be it Avenue, Close, Drive, Lane, Road, Street or Way.
